I would like to make alist here of cars than ran with non chevy power plants  707 comes to my mind right away  What others can we list

Wasn't the Johnny Lux 77 that Jackie Evans drove powered by a Ford. 

Gerald Chamberlain 76' were Fords. 

Leon Manchester had a Hemi for a while.   

Billy Brennan had a Hemi.

Harald Cope #1's were Ford powered.

I think the Ronco Rambler once had an American Motors engine.

Not sure how far you want to go back. 

Roy Pauch early coupe - Plymouth hemi. 

Hackettstown Auto Parts-sponsored coupe owned and driven by Abe Levengood and Bob Garboski - Ford Y block. 

Johnny Ditmars ran a small block Mopar in his sportsman Diamond D coupe. 

Mario and Aldo Andretti first novice car was a Hudson powered Hudson. 

It was the 1971 or 1972 season that Clyde Suydam was running a borrowed 390 Ford when his own engines were used up. 

As recently mentioned on the site the Creager-sposored Vince Conrad #9 was 312 Ford powered. 

The Lane flatback Ford #29 coach driven by Zorro Engler ran a 312 Ford engine. 

My late friend Bob Benson ran big block Ford engines in his modifieds at Middletown and Nazareth.  I know I am forgetting many.

If I have this correct I believe that in the early days many tracks required cars to use their own brand engine so that would be a long list of Fords.

I remember Frankie Schneider showing up at Middletown with Pontiac power on occasion

T-Bone, good topic.  The Norcia's 81 sportsman coupe, driven by Artie Filburn and Don Stives, was powered by a 289 Ford V-8.  That hot rod was very competitive against the Wall Stadium modifieds in the early and mid 60s. 

Speaking of Wall in the 60s, The Dick Barney 14 coupe was powered by an injected Oldsmobile V8. 

The Don House XL-1 was a Ford/Lincoln powered rocket ship. 

Wally Dallenbach and his cousin Richie Massing ran the 35a and 35b, both powered by, I believe, Buick motors.

I recall Johhny Luhrs ran Ford motors at Wall in the 70s. 

At Reading, Nazareth, and sometimes Flemington, the MeMe DeSantis H&J 14 coupe, was powered by a injected Ford V8. 

Getting a little more recent, didn't Billy Pauch Sr occasionally run a Dodge V-8 at New Egypt, and maybe East Windsor, in the late 90s, early 2000s? 

In my opinion, the Chevy small block became the dominant motor in the early 60s while its big (block) brother became the BMOC (big motor on campus) a few years later. 

Its not modifieds but wasn't Ray Tilley a hot ticket in Bud Grimm's PA "Bug" (today's PA posse) back in the 60s? 

While on sprint cars, wasn't the Scats Anfuso machine also powered by a Ford V8. 

I'm sure you 3Widers have a ton more of "non" Chevy hot rods, but that's all I can come up with at this point.  Scott Ely

Al Whitehouse always had Fords in his cars

Jman- GREAT ANSWER, and thanks for mentioning Al Whitehouse!  And, I'm embarrassed that I didn't come up with the Whitehouse Ford powered hot rods.  Lynn Whitehouse, Al's wife, was my first cousin!  My dad, Carl, lettered Al's first car, the white #51 coupe powered by a Ford flathead V8.  Too much floating around between my ears I guess.  Scott Ely

Bob Mccullough is my uncle. When I was kid we used to sit in the stands with Lynn and Margeret Patterson. I think Bob Patterson also ran Fords.

i remember al  & sometimes lynn coming to ron bucks to pick up his machine   work/engine parts-

Steve also ran Dick Lynch's 99 (former Cozze 44).  That car had a Boss 302 Ford in it.

The Ponitac power mention jogged my memory.  I know that Chet Crane's 02 was Pontiac powered because Chet was a die-hard Pontiac man. 

I believe that the Carl Van Horn/Chet Crane 71E cars were also Pontiac powered back in the day.

The 50s and early 60s the flat head Ford and Mercury's ruled the speedways.  There were some tracks would have none Ford events.  The Reading Rocket Russ Smith used to dominate using Ford flat heads. DD rebel Harris drove a flat head ford for car owner Joe Lawrence.

Not sure if it was Barry or Randy that drove the Barracuda Late Model at Flemington back in the day.

Randy drove a Mopar powered modified about 10 years ago at New Egypt...  That thing sounded absolutely evil, and I mean that in a good way!

Doug Pannepacker ran Mopar for years.

Casey Luna sprint cars were Ford powered.  Same for 7TW cars when Jeff Swindell drove for them. 

SMRC Midgets had Carl Miller with Oldsmobile V-8's, and Midge Miller ran 215 cu. in. all aluminum Buick V-8's.  His $5000.00 engine was banned by ARDC because he was beating all the high dollar Sesco's and Esslinger's at the time.

There was a limited sportsman # 7 coupe that was painted red on one side and white on the other that was powered by a 300CI Ford six.  Car ran Middletown.  It made a very distinctive sound.

Tom Monninhoff #15 had "Ford" written on the hood of his sportsman racer at Flemington in the 70's.

In early 90's, the Ken Onka owned #12 that was driven by Butch Green had maybe Buick(?) heads on it?  (Maybe one of you motor guys can tell us what was up with that.)

In more recent years, the C&S Equipment #6 owned by Craig and Leslie Pondish (driven by Danny Bouc) often has Ford power under the hood.

The last Olsen frame I purchased from Doug had Pontiac Big Block heads, in it at one time. Former Jimmy Chester car. Gloria Katonia K-3 had Buick's heads, they were a conversion that bolted on to the Chevy's. 

I did not want to get into the newer cars, but Danny Johnson and several others went to Ford in the 358 division at the Syracuse mile. A fewer teams others made the switch also.

John Bennett's 429 Boss Headed 460.  He told me it was the most powerful engine he ever had   

All great examples of "Run what you brung".  Not the cookie cutter cars of today.  God forbid somebody thinks outside of the box.

My Grandfather Pat Patterson ran a Ford 351 in his #33 and my Dad Larry ran a Ford 289 in his #43 in Sportsman division at Wall stadium in the 60s-80s.
