With the news of teams leaving the sport of modified racing, where do you think the sport will be in 5 and 10 years?  You can even look at the different divisions (i.e. 358 Modified, Sportsman, Sprint, Late Models, Factory Stocks, etc).  

A lot more new housing developments and big box stores and car storage facilities. Sad to say. 

I shifted towards sprint cars 40 years ago, so the modified end is creeping further away from my "home" base. I'd foresee little if any big block racing in 5-10 years, and of course tracks will continue to close. As far as sprints, locally, it seems to be holding it's own. My prediction 15 years ago that 410 was on it's way out was a bit off. Only one local track (Selinsgrov) runs 360 weekly, and URC is a mere shell of what it was when we ran there. I do expect Williams Grove to be gone in the next 5 years, possibly BAPS taking it's place on Friday nights.

I can't see The Grove gone in 5 years with them spending money on the new bridge.  If it happens, no new bridge yet this year.  Material delays?

I'm not convinced that there will be a new bridge. I think it's just a story. It would seem to me that the money spent on that could be better spent on improvements that the track actually needs, mai moving the pits out of the infield, improved amenities, track surface. Track owner Kathy Hughes inherited the track from her father, she's a businesswoman, who from what I understand really isn't into racing, and knows what she has there. Most think that the WoO races there are the reason she hasn't sold yet, I can't imagine she's making a profit on the weekly shows. As most tracks, it's worth a lot more as real estate.

She donated the merry go round building in the old amusement park to the steam tractor fairgrounds.  It will be moved there in one piece.

It's hard to predict the future but here it goes. One New Jersey track will be gone in 5 years possibly 2 in 10 years. The days of 30-plus fields for Special races are done. Tracks will struggle to get 20 car fields weekly.

Across the country, a large majority of tracks will fold. Due to rising costs and a lack of fan interest. 

Unless tracks start allowing straight rail frames. Street Stocks will no longer be able to exist within 10 years due to the lack of OEM Frames being available. It's been several years already since the OEMs stopped manufacturing full-size frame vehicles.

The majority of the posters here on 3-wide will stop attending races in 5 years. 

On another note, the only team that packed it in was the 126, I'm not sure of the others you are referring to. You have to realize the 126 team has been around since the middle of the 1980s. The owner did take a break for several years in the past. This leads me to the next prediction for the next 5 years, Jimmy Horton, Brett Hearn, Danny Johnson, Alan Johnson and a few other vets will pack it in. 

i totally agree with rick wouldnt be surprised at all if wiliams grove is either gone or special events only -if you dont think so means you havent been there in the last couple of years - low car counts no fans = as far as modifieds are they been going down hill for years- to much money - low intrest - cookie cutter cars
