Sorry to hear my old friend Jon Clemons passed away.

Jon and I started racing against each other at Nazareth on Friday nights in 1976, and raced each other through the 1980's in the mini-modifieds. Even though we had some disagreements on the track, we stayed friends afetr we hung up our helmets.

Many racers will know Jon as the Hoosier tire dealer at their local track in the 1990's and beyond, and the father of racer Chris Clemons. Jon always loved being involved in racing, and I was always bumping into him at one track or another.

I will always remember Jon as part of our small group of mini-modified racers who would race each other like hell, then all get togeather afterwards to swap stories about our escapades.

God Speed Jon

Jon was a real nice, soft spoken guy.Was always easy to sit and talk with Jon.  When we took over New Egypt in 1991, Jon was all in. Supported every race. Jon was very good in a race car. Rest in peace my friend.

Rich,

That's my dad in the #35. I was a teenager when my dad and I made the weekly trek to Nazareth that season. You guys used to also race together at East Windsor, Flemington, and Wall.

Sorry to hear of John's passing. The AMSA mini stocks were a close-knit group of guys.

- David

I know Dave, I enjoyed racing with your dad. Of course I was just an 18 year old rookie, and your dad was a veteran, so I don't think he gave me much notice at the time.

Friday nights at Nazareth were just a great time.

Excellent driver, always brought the car home in one piece. I always recall that his engine smoked a little bit so I asked him about it confidentially about it after the races one night. I thought it was too rich on the fuel settings. He stated that he kept the bottom end bearing clearances a little on the loose side, this resulted in a little less friction. He went over them after every race.
