I'm trying to verify the color on this car. This Ace Lane jr. Photo is all i've seen. Is the car dark Red or a Cranberry Maroon color?

I believe it was a very dark red.  Mark Yaple would know the color for sure.

Thanks for the first hand info on the paint Tony.

I was going to offer up "crimson red", which when compared to Coca Cola red, it's pretty close... just a little darker.

Crimson Red

Coca Cola Red

Phil - If Tony says "Coca Cola red, go with Coca Cola red!

I still remember the night he ran out of gas coming out of the 4th turn at East Windsor on the last lap with the checkered flag in sight.

Can't forget that night. We wanted to lighten the car, the fuel tank was the last component of aluminum to go.Fuel tank was built by Larry Kuhn, well known welder in our area and friend. Tank was constructed with baffles and internal supports, tank held 45 gallons of fuel. forget the thickness of the aluminum, but it wasn't thin. Loss of fuel was due to verticle crack right along side the weld on the right side. On the last lap, Car was sputtering coming down the back stretch, Fitzcharles went around on third turn, engine picked some fuel in 4th turn, chased Glen to the checker.

After the race we went to Jim's diner on 130, looking for a booth, Terry Ebersol gets up and said, since you gave us the race, you can have our table. Everyone laughed shook hands

Great times

Thanks for sharing those wonderful stories. In my 61 years on this earth about 56 of those have been spent at speedway all over the east coast. It's these cool back stories like you shared and the many I have from over the years that makes racing memories so much different than the stick and ball sports.

Little back story.  Mark Lenhart and George were former brothers in law.  When Mark was building his new cars, we got all the chassis measurements from George's car one Sunday afternoon at Les Veit's house. Made a couple of changes in the design, and built the 47. The body on that car was the white Mustang body from George's car. Small world.
