That Statewide 3 was a good looking race car.

In picture 5 I believe the #14 is Alan Johnson. It was his first season of racing in 1974 and he was 14 years old.

I totally agree John.. The 3 is more than just a gremlin..Its body/wheelbase is measured out perfect...Alot of racers back then had small garages and could not back up and look at it while locating everything.. I rolled my stuff outside to clamp panels on and take a look..Lots of work in those bodys but made you proud when finished..I was fortunate to have Jimmy DeBaro right from the start of the falcon body.. He had done alot of body work on street and drag cars.. Then the mustangs I had Teddy Bachardy to put them together.. We would cut some pieces and take a look... He is a wizard with that stuff..Also Jay Aten and Lenny Swider did an excellent job on the Replica 9c...It would be alot easier to be a Modified Fan again if they had these bodys...Stuff today is cookie cutter BORING....HtH

Thanks for posting Sparky.

Pictures from the stands always give you the feeling of sitting there and taking in not just the cars, but also the background, the pits, the "vibe" of the day/time period.

Great stuff.

3 wide nailed it. I always get that 'vibe'. I had it again just looking at the pics.

I see a Valiant bodied car but can't make out who it is. Dutch Hoag perhaps?

The Valiant car in the 3rd picture looks like either #42 or #47.
