Following up JH Long's post about NASCAR streaming races next year in the new package. It really is a brilliant idea on NASCAR's part because no more hearing about declining ratings. Streaming services don't monitor that. Not sure how you sell it to a sponsor. I won't be watching all the races now.

Here is how it worked out.

(1-14)  Fox will get 14 Cup Series races annually in the first portion of the season, including the Daytona 500. Fox also retained the entire Truck Series schedule.

(15-19) The next five Cup races will be on Amazon Prime Video. It marks the first time in NASCAR history its top series will be exclusively streamed.

(20 - 24) Warner Bros. Discovery will take over and carry the next five races. Those will be simulcast on TNT and streamed on the Max service.

NBC Sports will complete the season with the final 14 races.

- David

So, it will appear that nascar just disappears after the first 14 races. Then at the end of the season they reappear. That will work out great.

I wonder how many bullets NASCAR has left in the gun they use to shoot themselves in the foot with? It is all about the cash as Fats use to say .

This is very positive for NASCAR.

Streaming allows them to know the exact number of watchers and their watching habits. Today's system is very innacurate. Through an IP address or modem, they can pin point so much more than a Nielson rating.

Streaming is Global, not just limited to North America.

There's almost endless positives to this move.  People only need to adjust the way they watch.

This system will probably mimic Flo and if you don't have Flo, you may not realize how much better it is than being locked down on a couch on Sunday afternoon for four hours.

Adjust, you will see how much better it is. Beleve me, I know NASCAR is like our gover nment and screw up the simplest things, but this will be better when we learn to adjust to it.

Just be glad they did'nt buy Flo!

If you have Flo, watch the Michael Rigsby report with Matt Weaver as the guest. Extremely interesting perspectives on Short Track, mostly dirt vs. NASCAR.

It never dawned on me Nascar going global.  Kevin's right in that there's no limit to where the streaming services can reach.  I just read that Nascar's new TV deal, which starts in 2025, is for 7.7.billion for 7 years! They mentioned that this deal is 40% higher than the one that expires at the end of 2024.  Scott Ely

I hated streaming at first, but it's like learning a new remote control, it becomes habit. Streaming is so much better now than just three years ago. Five years ago it was pretty bad.  Now I watch on my terms and not the network or NASCAR.  Even though I feel it's good, I probably won't buy it.  LOL

Thanks Kjeyres, I guess I’m being hosed///chased out of the trees and if I want to see a race I’m going to have to buy a ticket! Maybe the NHRA will take over for me for a while on my Sunday rest in front of the tv, but I do gotta say the best sleep I get is my afternoon NASCAR nap ...

I have been watching videos on YouTube lately of nascar races from the 70's that are being posted and the quality is quite good.

I'm no expert on this, but I think if you (someone in your household) is an Amazon Prime member (I'm told is about $120 per year which gets you free shipping plus a few other perks), "Prime" streaming is also included at no additional charge.

I don't use Amazon, but my wife does, so Prime is listed as one of the available streaming channels on my Roku home screen.  There's a football game on right now that is probably not availalble on regular network/cable.

I wouldn't pay $120 to watch a handful of races, or anything else on "Prime" for that matter, but I'm just saying that if someone in your household already has Amazon Prime, then you probably already have access to "Prime."

Lastly, I am a dinasour in many aspects of my life, but I have 100% embraced streaming.  I never watch anything live on TV. anymore.... NOTHING.  I still have cable and a DVR, but those days are numbered as there is less and less on regular cable TV that I can't also see via Roku (on one of the streaming channels), and as mentioned above, I watch it when I want to watch it, and watch as many episodes as I want at one sitting, and I fast forward through all commercials.

In the final analysis, it'll probably end up costing just about as much as I have been paying for the past 20 years, but it is a much better viewing experience.

There are an estimated 140 million users on streaming devices. Many of them are between the ages of 18-28 years old.If marketed right it will be a very smart plan to bring in a younger audience to watch NASCAR.It works well for F1 and will more than likely work for NASCAR.Smart move

A few years ago, I worked with a bunch of those 18-28 year olds. And could could never talk about current tv series. Because they were always a season behind. But, I think they all were doing Netflix, and their parents account, also. That was leap years ago as far as this technology goes.
I always made sure with our cable, that our package included the racing friendly networks. I'm opening a restaurant and going to use it as my streaming guinea pig. Then bring it what I learned home. Cable is expensive. Another thing that will just price themselves into non existence.

Just remember, your cable company in most instances, carries the necessary wi-fi to stream, so they still have us by the you know what!

This is very positive for NASCAR.  This is very positive for the NASCAR fan.

It's not too difficult. Like Joe said, anyone with an Amazon Prime account can basically share it. They have recently limited it though.  Find that nephew/niece, grandson/grand daughter who is younger than 50 and have them set you up.  Weather it's with a Smart TV, that you may already own and don't take advantage of because you just think you are a dinosoar (which you will find you are not), or a Firestick, which I prefer, and they will "hook you up". If you're reading this than you figured out the computer. It gets pretty easy as you use it.

Streaming is about ten years now, 99% of everything you watch in the future, will be streamed. It's like going from an LP to a CD, 8 track to cassette.

the first step for the restaurant has been getting the T Mobile wifi device. And we have Amazon prime. So, I'll have to try to use it to stream.

Additional Info as a follow up to my post above.

As mentioned "Prime" comes with Amazon Prime, so if you have Amazon Prime, you'll have "Prime" streaming.... however, what I see happening little by little with most of the streaming channels is that they'll give you basic stuff, but if you want better content, you'll have to pay extra for it.

My commitment to Nascar watching is simple... If it is on something that I am already able to view, and there is no extra charge involved, then I'll watch it at my convenience.  However, the second they think they have a premium product that is worthy of a monthly/yearly subscription charge, I'm out 100%.  I just really don't enjoy it enough anymore, or enjoy listening to their announcers enough to really feel like I have to watch it, or certainly not enough to have to feel like I have to pay extra for.  This year, I DVR'd all of the races, and then found them not important enough to go back and actually watch most of the time... and when I did, I did the Evelyn Wood Speed Watching version... zipping through a 4 hour race in about 20 minutes.

I don't know any of the details, but if NASCAR is offering a few races in the middle of the season exclusively on Prime, I think it'll be probably part of the basic "Prime" viewing package, without an additional subscription/fee if you already are getting Prime.

For what it's worth, I think my household/household members are paying for the following streaming channels:  Flo, Peacock, Paramount and Discovery.  I also see NetFlix as being available, but not sure how we're getting that unless one of my kids has a subscription and watches it when they are here.  I have some other non pay streaming offerings such as TCM, ESPN, Fox Sports and a bunch more because I still have a current cable $ub$cription.....  At some point I will drop cable altogether and just find another way/less expensive way to get internet to the house.  Right now, I still like watching some of those mentioned above that I wouldn't have, or would have to pay extra for if I got rid of cable entirely.

Once I do get rid of cable... then on it will be 100% streaming - no cable/no cable bill.

The military members stationed overseas, who are NASCAR fans will benefit from the streaming services. There is no need to get up some odd hour in the morning to catch a race.
