35 years ago today we lost the Great Al Tasnady . In my eyes , the best . He had awesome driving talent & charisma & personality that always made him a fan favorite . He was ahead of his time in realizing that drivers needed to have a relationship with the fans if racing was to remain popular . He was so good in capturing the imagination of young fans . R.I.P. When we attended the Checkered Flag Fan Club banquet right after Al Tasnady had passed, it was a very somber celebration that year. Everyone there had a favorite tale to tell about their relationship with this wonderful man who is missed by many. |

Ronnie thanks for posting. There's a u tube video of Tas greeting the crowd at Reading after retirement, young Kenny Brightbill looking on with admiration. My 1st memories of racing were Tas dominating at Flemington in the 707. As a young kid you always wanted to know where he was no matter what he was driving. |

Have to add, Tas would have been there to con gratulate Billy on win #97 at Flemington if he could've made it. Class act. |
