I could be wrong on this, but if Franny Steinmetz was from somewhere near where Arney's Mt Speedway was, Ray Neary once told me that he had bought his first car somewhere down there and I think he also said that he thought the person he bought from "Franny."

The photo od Franny Steimetz's # 88 0n page 58 in the 60s section makes me think the car at least was from the My. Holly area given the "268" phone echange on the roof of the car  Carl Blue's posted comments regarding the photo suggested that the car was housed in the Vincentown area.  I know Franny drove Pappy Smith's 107s back in the early to mid 60s before Augie Moschera got the ride.  Scott Ely

is the phone number still in use by Friendship Auto Parts in Tabernacle! They also sponsored cars fielded by Bob McCullough and Fred Kennedy. Good eye Scott (and Carl)!

Have to get in the WAY BACK  machine!! On Woodlane road, off Rt 206, small garage on the right, not far in from 206. small contractor, Jim Swertzinler, or something like that.  He had 2 cars. A #2, I think it was gold in color, driven by Joe Vaughn, and a pink in color # 6 driven by Franny.  I think the #6 was powered by one of those early Poly-Head 318 c.i. V-8, Dodge or Plymouth engines.  Now remember this was the late 1960's, and my brain is now a little Fuzzy.  I'll check with MDY to make sure!!
