I didn't see Dutch Hoag's name in the results of the 1970 race. Dutch's son-in-law Lee Osborne who finished 21st might have been driving the car.

In the 1970 Langhorne race there were two Dutch Hoag owned #7 cars. One was the car posted above with Lee Osborne driving. The other #7 was driven by Mitch Smith.Osborne was in the Valiant and Mitch drove the coupe. They were both guaranteed starters. Here is a photo i took of both of the cars in the pits.I have the photo.

I was told that Mitch Smith flipped Hoag's car either in qualifying or during the race and Hoag was none too pleased. In fact there may have been some sort of confrontation because of it.

You’re right John. He flipped it into the ditch on the front “straight”. As I recall the cage broke.

I like the #7, especially the way that Valiant is painted.

Here's another favorite Valiant:  https://3widespicturevault.com/ALL_TIME_FAV_PICS_&_VITALS/Q03.08.20_099_BOD_ALL_0070_FAV_1.htm

I agree Joe...my favorite also.. I wanted to build a copy of Jeffs but my falcon was nearing completion so that wasnt going to happen...Later years the Mustang was smaller and fit better. first Mustang I liked was Tobies Anthony Furniture from Reading....That Mustang was Hot....Light little car with a Davey Brown Smallblock...

I also seem to remember that Lou Lazzaro had a Valiant bodied mount.  I think it had a Chrysler torsion bar front suspension setup. I always wondered if Lou built that piece or bought it from someone.  Anyone out there know??

Here's a few that you guys came up with a few years ago when we were looking for pictures of your favorite Valiant bodied racers:

Earl Schloeder #K46.  This one was driven by Phil Meisner, Al Tasnady, Mike Grbac and Bob Pickell.

Ronnie Guinther

Don Kreitz

Fred Orchard - We're told this is the former Don Kreitz#406 pictured above.

Dutch Hoag #7, but you guys determined that it might be Lee Osborn driving it (?)

Geoff Bodine

Photographer info/provider info as marked.

The Lazzaro Valiant, along with the 11 car in the photo, were built by Sonney Seamon. The Hoag Valiant was sold to Andy Romano and went on to great success in Upstate NY.

Thanks for the additional "Valiant" info Steve.  Now that you mention it, I think I remember seeing pictures of a #97 Valiant, which I'm thinking was the car.  Being a Flemington/East Windsor fan, I didn't get to see it as the #97, but was a Langhorne to see it as the #7.

There weren't a lot of them, and although I've never seen a street Valiant that I thought looked cool, I do think Valiants made really cool looking racecars.
