Thank you to Shawn McAndrews for posting his Wall images below, and to Kevin for posting a few from Larry Jendras Jr.  Very much appreciated!

Fitting in with the Wall Wednesday concept, here's something that I though some on the board would find interesting, provided by Scott Ely (statistics from his mom Ruth.):

Thanks for posting my Mom's Wall Novice 50 lapper results from 1965.  I found this article that she clipped out of either the trenton Times or the Trentonian, also from 1965.  I believe this was Augie's last modified win, which came in Pappy Smith's # `07 coupe.  Scott Ely

Just found what I believe is my Mom's summary of Wall's modified 100 lapper which I believe occurred on the same night as the 50 lap novice feature posted above. Scott Ely

Very interesting post , looking at the names of some of the heros of my youth and their results and Time Trial times

Can anyone compare the times from this 1965 result sheet to today ?  How much different ?

Thank you very much for posting

She did not.  Although she could have considering how much she loved racing.  I think she would have made a great weekly writer for AARN. Mom (and usually me) went to Wall with the Moscheras (Augie and wife Virginia) just about every Saturday back then.  Scott Ely

Thanks for the breakdown !  That is amazing to me -how good the cars of 1965 were !!

Its taken almost 60 years to get that -3.100 improvement

The cars have gotten faster as the rate of .5 ( 1/2 sec.) per decade  !!

I can only imagine the amount of money spent looking for that .5  of a second .

Actually, it came down slowly thru the 70's, with better cars, tires, and engines, to a 13.3 Jim Hendrickson Turkey Derby track record in 1974. It than dropped to 12.0 by Tony Siscone in the mid 80's. It has really leveled off since then.  The only difference between the mid 80's and say 2020, is a dozen guys can run around the 12.0-12.2 area, where back than, only a couple could. Turkey Derby times were always faster due to the cooler weather.   Turkey Derby was always a challenge, you would go out early morning practice, cold temperatures, and after you got good tire heat, you could run three tenths faster than you could all year. It was a challenge you looked forward to all year.  It was kind of bragging rights if you were the fastest.

Wall, like most tracks, would slow down three to four tenths in the summer due to the heavy air on the engines and the heat of the tires (too hot).
