...well, maybe just a little, but I just got done watching The Busch Clash from LA (I had DVR'd it last night), and all I can say is that I still feel like I'm waiting for... for... "something that just never quite happened."

I think my interest, excitement and expectation of watching a racing event has been raised so high from watching events on Flo, that I easily could have fast forwarded through the whole Busch Clash broadcast and felt like I had not missed a thing.  (As it was, I fast forwarded through a lot of it, but I kept stopping at various places, hoping to stumble on something of interest....  It didn't happen.)

NASCAR is so used to being the lead dog, they have to be in deep self diagnosis mode to try to figure out how they can attempt to hold that position, now that the racing community is no longer held hostage as we had been for years, having to take what they were offering if you wanted to watch racing on TV.

I can't even begin to compare "THE CLASH" on Fox (Fox Sports1) to a Flo broadcast of USAC Midgets or Wingless Sprints.... Or the Lucas Late Models, and/or other series shown on Flo  The "racing" product Fox is offering (the level of competition, the announcers, the "vibe")..., it's like the difference between Rock and Roll, and any other type of music....  It may be all fall into the category or "racing", or using the analagy, it may all fall into the catagory of "Music" so we tune in because we like music... and we thiink we're gonna get Rock and Roll.... but what I heard/saw wasn't "Rock and Roll!" I don't even know what it was.... I guess to some it still qualifies as "racing".... but even that's a stretch.

I'll DVR/fast forward cup races this year until I finally get rid of cable, but I will watch with the lower expectations than ever, and my goal this year is to stop being so surprised by what a poor product it has become.

Have to agree with you Joe.  The NASCAR product is all but gone for me.  I watched the last 2 laps of the Clash last night, only because the 3 racing events I was watching on Flo were all in commercial breaks.  I can't remember the last time I watched a whole NASCAR race.  And quite frankly, I don't have the desire to.

I enjoyed the race last night.  Not going to go over why other than I thought that it was a good format, heats and a feature, and a feature that was run pretty quick, like a Saturday night one division local race.  I've been around a long time, since the latter 1950's and have seen a lot of eras and genres.

Just my two cents.

Joel

They have alienated the fanbase who got them to a pinnacle in favor of gaining favor amongst the woke. I pulled the plug  in 2004. Support your local tracks, much better product and your appreciated

If you have not watched Nascar in 20 years why bother replying?  I noticed the grandstands were pretty much empty. I do not know if the schedule change affected the crowds or not. But you would think more people would be there for a Saturday night.

There will always be die hard nascar fans all over the country. But, I would love to see the percentage of repeat ticket buyers are for the Clash. Like I said last year, people go because it's a spectacle in their city. Nascar isn't gaining fans because of this venue. Nascar is still trying to grow, instead of fixing their strongest markets.

Joe-  I did DVR then watched the clash.  Guess I screwed up as my taping started at about 1/2 way thru the event.  I'm finding  that it doesn't matter if Nascar's at Pocono or the LA Coliseum, I'll still fast forward when "they're just ridng around burning off laps".  I generally do watch the trucks from start to finish.  Give me a "Saturday night race" (TV or FLO) over cup and xfinity anytime!  Hope this explains my opinion.  Scott Ely

Nascar's version:  "The result? A thrilling exhibition race that delivered thrills, spills and even boiling tempers after the Cup Series’ event — plus a full 150-lap NASCAR Mexico Series race, marking a monumental day for the international series."

Further proof that I am obviously not the fan that NASCAR is targeting.

Here's their press release:  https://www.nascar.com/news-media/2024/02/04/busch-light-clash-shines-coliseum-after-rescheduling/

I do like that they moved the race from Sunday to Saturday night, as it reads like it was either that or cancel it entirely for this year.  From what I understand, the weather was awful on Sunday, and is also raining heavily in the LA area today.

I do like that they offered refunds for those who had bought tickets for Sunday, not only for tickets, but also for parking that had been paid in advance.

They opened the gates free to spectators for Saturday's event.

I didn't see any evidence to back up the statement, "The lower sections of the historic LA Coliseum were packed with race fans who got to experience a full day’s worth of events free of charge", however, it is a Nascar press release, so it should be read at one's own risk of being manipulated just a bit....

They got lemons... and made lemonade...  and sometimes that's the best you can hope for.

It proves it's a total Television show. They did'nt want to have to move it to Monday night and have to compete with Monday Night Football....sarcasm.   Someone took a bath on this one.   Maybe they will learn, like Super Dirt Week is gonna, run it on Saturday and you have Sunday as a backup.
