Just read that Chet Christner has decided not to announce the USAC events on Flo this year. I know that everyone on this board does not have Flo so I am speaking to just a few of you but what a loss. We talk on here a lot about how a great knowledgable voice can make a show and Chet did just that. Part of the reason I watched so many of the USAC sprint and midget races (unmuted) was because he was so knowledgable and he didn't yell at me.

Yeah, missed hearing him call the race last night. Entertaining guy and he had some great "Chetisms." Heard him call a few snowmobile races and made me want to watch.

David, I couldn't agree more.  Not a knock on any announcers, but Chet is an amazing play by play guy.   Carries a show better than most.  Like you, he really turned me into a USAC fan.  I hope he still does his interviews and pieces on Flo. Posting from my phone, but when I get to a computer I will post all the "Chtisms" I put in my notes.  Some are really good!

I really liked the clips he did driving into a track. They really helped me when going someplace for the first time.

I thnk the current was the announcer for the Interstate Racing Association (IRA). 410 Sprints in WI, MN, IL area.

Agree with all the comments. Great announcer will miss his Chetisms

I love that some announcers start the feature with a special phrase but I do get tired of hearing the same ones over and over.  Maybe change em up a little.  BUT,  I admit I never grew tired of "its time to drop the hammer"! Might be because I've only heard it afew times.  I think its the phrase itself and the way Chet says it that makes it special.  Scott Ely
