Oh they should do a wonderful job of reducing attendance like they have with the major series.

First order of business, obsolete the current classes and make everyone invest in new cars that are going to be obsolete in 2 more years.

I have a feeling that if you didn't know the place was taken over by NASCAR you wouldn't notice any changes if you bought a ticket and sat down to watch the races.

Bowman Gray is NASCAR's longest weekly sanctioned run track so they have been involved with the racing for a very long time. They have done a great job promoting the place and can now begin the process of business tax breaks, stadium upgrades and a  possible non points paying Cup , Xfinity or Truck race. Its a no lose situation for everyone

Nascar cracks me up as they say they care about "Grassroots racing", they don't.  Wall Stadium became NASCAR in 2007 and we got absolutely no support or anything they say they will do. It just costs everyone an expensive license, including pit crew, which is basically given back to the point funds. They brag of great insurance, but it was exactly the same because of New Jersey's million dollar umbrella policy which no other state mandates for a track.

It's all talk and all press for NASCAR.  Look at Stafford Speedway alone. A very successful NASCAR track that left their system. Most of New England has left them.  Grandview and Brett Deyo are the only one's in the Northeast practically and I will bet Brett leaves them soon.  It's all about numbers and not people.

They have a great ship heading in the right direction with Bowman Gray, NASCAR will manage to sink it.

I swore this year not to bash NASCAR, but I have experienced this and know where it will go. I HOPE I'M WRONG!

I would like to see NASCAR run the Cup All Star Race or run the Clash there. Triple 100's format, full invert in each feature.

Bowman Gray could handle the crowd no doubt. They get 17,000 in and out no problem at all. They do it all the time. The problem is the facility is actually a pretty compact piece of real estate. There's no real suites that im aware of. Well maybe theres a couple VIP rooms up in the scoring tower but not enough and no place for all the sponsor hospitality areas. They'd have to sell tshirts off the back of the hauler like sprint car guys do cuz theres no room for the merch trailers either. They can handle a crowd. They do it 15 times a year. I'm not sure they could handle a Cup race though.

NASCAR will always seemed to have a catch up attitude for last how many years. As they said let the growth go and see where it goes. But as long as there is racing I'm in. So good luck hope it works.... for everyone.

His wife, Mary jo AND the kids GOT nothing & no help from Nascar at all-not even insurance money----shame with all their gazzilions of dollars --

If Bowman-Gray isn't financially feasible for cup or xfininty, how about a truck race?  $50 a ticket for 17,000 seats.  By my calculation, thats $850,000!  Add in TV money, I'd say it'd be profitable.  Scott Ely

I love Bowman Gray. Wish Napcar would leave it alone.

I haven't read what Nascar's intentions are with Bowman Gray (just stay in the background, or are they going to get involved with the running of events and what determining what series will run there?)

If they do plan on being active, I just don't see what Nascar brings to the table that will make Bowman Gray any more enjoyable for those who attend it now.  I've never been there, but does Bowman Gray really need their help/direction?  How is "the product" going to be better?  Are they looking to promote it to a national audience, maybe as a teaser to try to get new fans to attend Nascar events when holding events in a city near them?  Probably a minor point, but will ticket prices remain the same for those that have supported the track for years, or will it go through the usual Nascar upgrade, that for me in the past meant more $'s, less convenient either because of "TV start times, or less room because they have to make way for all those attending as part of a some sort of hospitality deal, rather than the grunts like us who were there from the early days?

From what I've read, Bowman Gray looks like one of the most successful short track shows in the country, and it may be short sighted on my part, but it might be Nascar is looking to put their name on an already successful product, and as is usually the case, they'll make it appear to those not paying attention very closely, like if they created it.  (I can hear Boyer now:  Another huge Nascar success!)

I have seen in the past (and in this thread) that some of you guys are ok/enjoy the type of racing offered at the LA Coliseum over the past few years.  It's a big no for me.  I think it's alwful... overhyped... "forced", and really, totally unnecessary.  I don't think it appeals to a majority of current fans, and I don't see it attracting the masses that Nascar expected to usher in to replace us.

I admit, I'm getting more and more negative with each passing year, but I think Bowman Gray is just fine the way it currently appears to be operating.

I feel like I've seen this movie before where someone decides that the program run at a successful local weekly short track needs to be taken to the next level.....  When that happened in NJ, within about 10 years, the track was permanently closed, and another 10 years after that, you could buy anything you needed for your home improvement projects, and order a medium rare filet at Longhorns.

Gotta go... I'm missing Matlock. Laughing
