My model of John Ditmars' Diamond D sportsman.  I met with John several years ago and he told me that his sportsman was a 1937 Plymouth body on a mid 1950s frame and was Mopar powered.  I found a resin body to make this model.

Outstanding job Ray! Amazingly detailed! I love the scratch built headers and seat belts. Where did you find the piecrust sidewall rear tires?

Thanks for the compliments Steve.  The rear tires came from a young man from Allentown, PA who was making tires and a few other stock car parts.  He closed his business about 6 or 7 years ago.  These tires were the last pair from my stash.

Oldtimer-  Great build!  If memory serves me, I remember Jonny Ditmars running this hot rod at Flemington back in the mid, maybe late 60s.  Scott Ely

Scott, John won the Flemington Sportsman championship with this car in the 1960s.  His later modified was a 1940 coupe with 428 Ford power.

Thank you for the compliment.  No sprint cars.  I've built about 20 dirt cars so far and more to go.  Also build some other stuff including a model of my son's father-in-law's custom Corvette.  1968 body with headlights, tail lights, engine (+ Tremec trans) and interior from a wrecked 2014 Corvette.  Plus the interior had custom upholstery, console and dash.  That was a challenge.
