Bobby Bottcher about to shake Kenny Golden's hand in victory lane at Nazareth Speedway, 46 years ago today on April 2, 1978. Lew Hontz gets ready to present a case of Tastykakes to Bobby. Bobby's son, Steve, is on the right.

Way back in 1970, a buddy and I went to see the Rangers play the Flyers in the old Spectrum and I'll aways remember the announcer saying "Bobby Clarke Scores For A Case Of Tastycake".

The announcer was Gene Hart and, if it was an important game, Kate Smith sang God Bless America. Play Kate to win and Only the Lord saves more than Bernie Parent.

Long time ago, but I think in 1970 Kate Smith wasn't singing.  Only guy with a helmet back then was Jean Guy Gendron [I think it was him] the Flyers crowd calle him "Transistor Head".

Jack: Your Nazareth victory lane pics always bring a smile to my face, thankfully I was there to experience those special times. Looking forward to seeing more of them.

Re the Flyers:  Bernie! Bernie!  And you absolutely had to be in the building to truly experience the playing of God Bless America when a playoff win was critical!

Haha! If Bernie was in fact "screened" it was because Joe Watson or Ed Van Impe were in the process of "clearing" the area in front of the net! Priceless times in the Spectrum and the Wells Fargo Center.
