The saying ( All good things come to an end) definitely applies here. I recently drove past the old Phillipsburg mall and noticed some action toward tearing it down. Not sure why it's taking so long. But it definitely stirred up some old feelings of the winter race car shows held there. It was the prelude to every oncoming race season where you got to see the new cars and their paint schemes, some old vintage cars and a lot of bench racing. There were organizations that did guest speaking sessions, vendors selling pictures and memorabilia. It was the place to be every winter. Here's a few pictures of the mall now and some old pictures from shows past. Feel free to include any pictures that you might have. I've tried to include some with a few 3widers in them. Enjoy

Thank you for this post.  Some well-chosen photos and great memories. Since I live nearby in Hackettstown, this was my winter go-to event from the get go and I looked forward to it every March that it was held.  It was a bittersweet event in that the show had all of the space it required because the mall was in decay.  I'll bet that during those race shows the P'burg Mall businesses such as the eateries drew more people than the whole rest of the year.  Sadly the mall was terminal and thos race show transfusions did not save its life.

I tried to get to as many of these as I could. The last couple I went after work from the plastic plant on Stryker road, unfortunately that was closed down too. As far as malls go this was one of the newer ones in the area. It was built in the 80's I bought my first v.c.r. at the sears there and immediately after I got it home watched the Snyder Nazareth speedway video.

I have a question? I may be way off on this but did this show start because the Ledgewood Mall show ended? Saddly I didn't attend this show because it always fell on a conflict date for me. Nice to look back at the pictures. It just makes me appreciate the past more when I see the ones that are no longer with us. Thanks Lenny.

I think it may have had something to do with the Ledgewood mall and there was also a show in nazareth for one year in a warehouse that might have moved to pburg.

I completely forgot that I made this a few years back. It's a video I made of Pburg Mall, Reading Mall, Flemington Mall and Palmer Park Mall. Click on the Youtube link above.

Thanks for posting Lenny.  As time moves on, many of those photos become even that much more significant.

Lots of great times at the Phillipsburg Mall Show, made possible by all of those who built or restored their vintage cars, brought out their cars to display, the racing/historical clubs & organizations such as FSHS, Dorney Park, Tri-State Vintage, and by folks like the Pados Brothers & Greg Collins.

I only got the #292 up there one year to display as part of FSHS, and that was thanks to Kevin Eyres for loaning me the #X3 Ford Ramp Truck so I could get the car from Colts Neck to Flemington... where it sat for a few days at good friends of the Vault Jeff and Bryan Kuhl's shop (thanks Jeff and Bryan), who had volunteered to trailer up to Phillipsburg so it could be displayed as part of the show... (Not sure what year it was, but probably at least 10 or more years ago.)

Truly appreciated the look back at the P'burg Mall shows. I was blessed to have been involved from the beginning, being a member of Bob Miller's show team, encouraging my employer IRCO Credit Union to sponsor the show, being able to display my Harmony Speedway memorabilia. Developed many friendships throughout the years and was able to put faces to the names of many 3Widers. Being able to meet so many of my childhood racing heroes was priceless.

Thank you Greg for helping to keep that show alive!!!  I too met many 3 Widers there who I consider great friends now. Lunch at Quaker Steak and Lube was awesome with new friends.
