Holy cow! Kyle showed up to announce the feature of the Lucas Oil late models (bwt - what happened to Flo's regular guys?) and what a treat! Having some dirt experience he was informatative but also funny. Who knew Kyle was funny? He seemed right at home in the booth.

This is ala Dale Earnhardt Jr. for me. I wasn't a fan of him on the track but I can listen to him forever behind a mic. NBC fumbled letting him go. Their rating will drop without him IMP. BTW, His recent podcast interview with Casey Atwood was great.

He got me following NASCAR again probably 10 -12 years ago. After The King retired I hardly watched any Cup races for years. I'd check the results to see where Smoke finished and that was usually the extent of my interest. I'd watch Daytona, Talladega, etc. but it was not on my radar from week to week. But I started noticing this kid who was Kurt Busch's little brother and saw a wheelman who hated finishing in 2nd place. I'm a competitive sore loser so I liked that. He won the winged micro sprint feature at Millbridge on Wednesday night. First win for KFB in a micro. Yeah, I decided not to go so I missed it dagummit!!!

Just watched the replay and have to agree - Kyle was excellent on the mic, and had some great insight on what was happening as well.  His play by play announcing was great, but equally great was the filler during the yellows/downtime.

I liked his answer about what type of racetrack he would build, and he quickly said "none" and added that he'd race on the ones that already had been built.

Hope to hear more of him in the booth if/when he gets to that part of career.

It seemed like he just jumped in and kind of took over. Bad for Pete Wortman as he was moved aside.  He did a great job besides a few talk overs. Right on it and pretty funny at times.  I thought he was just stopping in there to promote, but the race got going and he was spot on.

I too listen to every Dale Jr podcast and really enjoy it, but I feel this years format without Mike Davis is hurting Dale a little. I used to not like Mike chiming in, but when Mike was there, it was more like a conversation with a guest, where now it's like an "interview" and Dale stumbles on questions quite often. It's still very good, but there's a huge difference between a journalist asking questions and a race car driver asking questions. Dale's advantage is, he's been there.   Not a Harvick fan, but his interview show is very good also.
