Due to a very unfavorable forecast of rain showers and very cool temperatures later today, the New Egypt Speedway has decided to cancel their scheduled program for this evening. Track management made this difficult decision as early as possible so race teams and fans would not have to make an unnecessary trip and could plan the rest of their day.
“With the price of fuel and travel, we didn’t want to wait until the last minute to make this decision” stated NES General Manager Joe Liquori, “our fans and race teams are very important to us, and with the forecast getting worse, we felt it was better to make this call as early as possible.”
New Egypt Speedway will be back in action next Saturday, May 11th, for their Mother's Day weekend special featuring the fan favorite “Twin 20’s” (two 20 lap features) for the Modifieds! They will be joined by the Crate 602 Sportsman, NEWS wingless Sprint cars, Street Stocks and Rookie Sportsman. Gates will open at 5pm with racing getting underway at 6pm.
