Msg ID: 2835192 Any of "youz guys" going to Turkey Derby? +0/-0

I threw a little North Jersey lingo in there as while I know Wall Stadium is located in the central/south part of NJ, Turkey Derby usually brings in a lot of the North Jersey/Long Island crowd... you know, the guys that like ashefault!

I'm a dirt fan (mostly) but have also attended (and enjoyed) quite a few Turkey Derby events over the years.  ...And it's that... an event.

It will probably be a game day decision for me as unfortunately, the sins of the past, with what were slow motion paced events while the sun was shining (asking, "Why are they dragging this out?.... It's going to get cold....") over and over again...., only to then end up with me and many others leaving as the cold took hold once it got dark, while there were still feature events to be run, that I really wanted to see. By that time, it was probably 35 - 40 degrees, making for a "real feel temp" of F'n COLD!

I looked at the schedule for this year (for Saturday), and it looks like they "should" be able to get the show in, in plenty of time, but I've fallen for that before, and not in a hurry for a repeat performance.

I won't be able to go. But I sure wish I could, The dirt modifieds on the asphalt track is worth the price of admission.

It will be the same as usual. No rush because the officials sit in a heated booth and could honestly care less. Ask me how I really feel.   Lol.  The schedule says 5:30 finish time. I will donate a dollar for every minute it runs past 5:30 to The Matheny Christmas Party in honor of the Turkey Derby.

I have been going for a few years now but this year I'm going to be out of town for the weekend. There was a report that Tyler Reddick was going to pick up a ride this year - not sure if that is true or not - but that's kind of cool if it is.  Rumors also say that MTJ is supposed to be there next year.

Never been to one that wasn't drawn out.  You can get away with doing that when your the only game left in the season.  I do wish it could move along faster.

Section #1, fourth row from the top, on the aisle.....as usual.

Just to be prepared, I bought these thin, little hand warmers on Amazon for $20. You charge them like you do a phone. Supposed to last 8 hours. I slipped them in my gloves today just to give ‘em a shakedown run. MAN, those little suckers throw off some BTU’s!!

I was planning to go, but now that the weather forecast has taken a turn for the more seasonable (cloudy, high of 41 and 20 mph winds), I'll stay on the couch and watch it on PPV.

I only went once, it's a long drive from upstate NY.  It was an opportunity to see some good racing late in the year but it was also just like you said, Joe.  A very long dragged-out show and damn cold once the sun had been down for a little while.  May be back some year, not this one.

Not making the trip north this year. Anybody know if there is pay-per-view for Turkey Derby?
