I am probably going to get a lot of heat for this but I am going to say it anyway. If a person is given the honor and privilege to perform the National Anthem, do just that and only that. I am fed up with performers attempting to personalize and sometimes butcher the National Anthem. Sing it as it supposed to be sung - original melody as written two and one-half centuries ago and with reverence, not personal style. |

Personally, I think the National Anthem should be played by a Military band!! I agree with your comment. Everyone tries to do it their way it just doesn't make it!! |

I agree with the idea of having a military band perform the Nation Anthem. That way it would be shown the respect that it deserves. Today's version at Indy was awful! |

dfreeman, you reinforced my point. We should not have to talk about "versions". There is one and ONLY one! |

Should always be done by a band. The 2 biggest cringe moments in racing are sung anthems and 4 wide pace laps |

As much as I dislike it, I respect the fact we are Free in this country and are able to sing the National Anthem any way we fell necessary without persecution. That’s important. |

I have no problem with her rendition. I’ve heard much worse. A lot complained about the guy that sang the anthem for the NFL draft. No problem with him, either. |

I stood in my living room for it but after the first 2 seconds I knew she was going to butcher it. Sing it the way it was written. It's not to be a move to be a career booster for some newer artist. But then again Steven Tyler butchered it up at the end when he sang it. |

This all started with Jimmy Hendricks version of the national anthem at Woodstock. Since then other artists put their own spin on it.I myself like the traditional version played or sung by a military band or chorus. |
