Looking at the #659 Vega, I had a chance opportunity to find myself sitting next to Parker Bohn bohn when his grandson was racing on the dirt at New Egypt.  Parker told me that he never liked the way the pedals were in the Vega - Too close together!

Does anyone know if Parker ever won when driving the Vega?  I'm a dirt guy, so I'll leave it to the asphalt crowd to help out with that one!

Yea Joe, Parker only won 1 feature in the Vega, and Eddie won in the sportsman the same evening! Summer of 75 if I remember right.

I was there when Parker won in the Vega, I think he did start on the pole.  I checked on old program and it was July 1977 and his last win at Wall, and probably his only in the Vega.

You mention Parker and Eddie winning on the same night, wasn't Parker driving a #68? There was a pic of that posted recently, if so that was the 1977 last win and the Vega win came earlier.

Question: Look at the Ferrante Vega. Now, look at the other cars. See something different? The X3 wheel bolt pattern is a standard 5x5. All the other Mods are using wide 5’s. I’ve seen other guys with 5x5’s too. Why? This was a bit before my time in the pits. It was once explained to me that 5x5’s were run by guys who ran a decent number of extra distance events that required tire changes. Seems you could be quicker with the gun on a 5x5 than with a wide 5. Well, at least that’s what I was told. So, is this just some old timer pulling my leg or was he truthful?

It came down to weight. Aluminum hub and the wheels had less steel for weight was the big factor. GN or 5x5 wheels were real heavy. In the 80's it went to aluminum wheels that weighed 7 pounds.

I remember a group of guys yelling Dr. Doom in the turn four seats. He was also Fly’n Brian.

Is the Gremlin on the inside of Tom Green's car the #11 of Pete Cobb?

I don’t think it’s Pete Cobb. His paint scheme was different.
