Coupes, Sedans, Corvairs, Vega's, Gremlins, Mustangs....

It sure was a different time, and a different experience going to the races back then, especially if you were into how cool the cars looked.  Thinking back to those years, I think my interest was somewhat split down the middle between favorite drivers & favorite cars, meaning I liked certain drivers, but I also liked certain cars just because of how they looked (stance, how far back the driver sat, etc.)

It's not really possible to do that anymore unless you like the way one car's stripes are, compared to the stripes on other cars.  That doesn't do it for me....

I can't remember the last time I went to a local stock car race and really locked in on how cool, or how great any one particular car looked.  Not saying they looked bad, but just saying that nothing really stood out as different, and I guess it's hard to do when everyone is running the same panels.

Joe I was just a teenager going to Pville Speedway and I still can remember the difference in the cars.  Most were home built, then came the "Underdog" (the Frank Ransom 0 car) and the home built cars were being lapped and the track closed, and the bought built cars never got a chance to race there.

I like the second picture of the #22 Vega bodied car with what looks like a blown head gasket. Simple, well built (K I S S) design.
