Slow down.... Slow down...(lol)   ...Before you answer, please read what it is we're looking for this time around...

We all know that there are many sons who followed in their fathers, (and sometimes grandfathers, and probably even great grandfather's) footsteps when it comes to wheeling a race car.  THAT IS NOT WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR THIS TIME....

What we're looking for in this weekend's "Son of a Gun" trivia question is really "Son of an Owner," meaning we want you to provide the name of "a son" who drove for their father, where the father was known mainly as a car owner, and not primarily at any point as a driver themself.

What makes this tricky is that probably at some point most eventual car owners (fathers) probably drove at the very least "a little" before becoming a car owner for their son.... so to make this a little tougher, we're looking son's (or daughters) of those fathers who didn't race/didn't race much, but went on to become a car owner for their son or daughter.

So... give this one some thought and let us know the name of a driver, who drove for a car owner who was their father, but where you don't remember the father having been a driver before becoming an owner.

  • Driver (son or daughter):______________________
  • Owner (father who was not a racer/limited racing experience before becoming a car owner):_________________________

As an example:

  • Driver: Andrew Krause
  • Owner (father who was not a racer/limited racing experience before becoming a car owner): Cliff Krause (owned cars driven by Rick Laubach and others, but I don't think he was a driver before becoming a car owner.)

--------------------------------------

Thanks if advance for giving it some thought... and be sure to let us know who you come up with in response to this weekend's "Son of a Gun" Trivia question.

Don Ling Sr and Donny Ling jr.    Don Sr. never raced.  He always owned cars. Tommy Comerord drove for Don until Donny was old enough to race.   Donny won the 1984 Sportsman championship at Wall than took over the Ling 66 modified from Tommy Comerford.   Donny won a lot of races in a short period of time, even ran some Busch Series races but retired early because he became a Cop.

Cliff Krause raced his own #27 Sportsman at OCFS before Steve Bottcher drove for him at Penn National. I used to kid Cliff about his driving career all the time.

Never knew that Cliff raced before becoming a car owner.   Any idea how long he raced for, and did he run the #27?

Yes Cliff drove his own #27 only for maybe 2 or 3 years max if that. Thinking mid to late 90's. Supreme Manufacturing was prominently displayed on the car as the primary sponsor!

Is Dick Barney still considered the owner, or has Robert assumed that responsibility? In any instance, Blake Barney drives for either his Dad or his Grandad. Neither Dick or Robert drove.

Pops Blewett never drove, but JB II drove for him.

Tom Martino never drove (drag racing don't count) and Tom Jr. drives for him.
