IHRA has been having major issues. These facts have been confirmed by Flo Racing, ABC TV out of Virginia, and a few other sources. 

"PULASKI, Va. (WDBJ) - The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has made the decision to cancel the remaining 2026 IHRA Stock Car Series, including a race in Pulaski.

“This is about making the right decision for the long-term health of the IHRA Stock Car Series,” said IHRA and not just a couple events in 2026. “Our responsibility is not simply to put races on the schedule, it is to provide a professional, competitive, and well-supported championship. We believe taking this time to reset and build the series properly will allow us to return in 2027 stronger than ever.”

After a day full of rumors swirling around the internet, the IHRA made an official announcement late Thursday night about their future in Drag Racing.

"The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) regrets to announce that the remaining events of the 2026 IHRA Nitro Drag Racing Series will not be contested as originally scheduled.

This announcement applies only to the 2026 IHRA Nitro Drag Racing Series. IHRA-owned drag racing facilities, weekly bracket racing, sportsman competition, Team Finals, and the IHRA World Championship will continue as scheduled. It may be unrelated how I have to wonder what impact the IHRA's current financial issues will have on Matt Sheppard's dirt racing program.  Its sad that local racing  has become so dependent on sponsorship, or some one with deep pockets.  Can't go back to the 60s, 70s, maybe even the 80s, so I'll have to accept it.  Scott Ely

I didn't know Super Matt was sponsored by them till I saw your post. I see the Sponsor on his car. It may not affect him this year if he was given money up front. The IHRA stock car series looked like it was all asphalt-based. I don't think it's wise to speculate. Too many rumors have already spread across the web about IHRA.

 Maple Grove in PA, now known as Darana Raceway Maple Grove, was supposed to have Ron Capps and Madie Gordon there in May. That event was washed out. I wonder what will happen to the events schedule for September 10-13?

I was at maplegrove in June for a VW event. Everything was run as always. Except things are painted lime green and the Darana logo is on the tower. Hopefully they sort everything out and keep all the tracks they bought up and racing. 

MS apparently could not "afford" a trip to Bridgeport last night.
