Did any of you other gearheads do this? As a young’n tagging along with Mom at the supermarket, I would amuse myself by building fully blown big block engines in the cart with the various items Mom was buying. Who knows what could’ve been if I stuck with this…….maybe ACME racing engines!

No, but whatever you were taking back then could be packaged and resold today. You would make a fortune ;>) 

Can't say that I ever did that...  but that's definitely an early sign of things to come from a gearhead in training.

I'm wondering what you could have used for headers that you buy in a supermarket... sausage links from the deli section?  (lol)

Can't say that wooded I recall trying to build a "Hutter" out of vegetables.  BUT I do recall as kids (7 maybe a tad older) we built "race cars" (yeah right) out of discarded baby carriages and racing them down hills. Guess me, and my fellow racers, were lucky to make it to high school since they didn't steer well at all. Forget the "well" part.  Scott "lucky to be alive" Ely

A few years later, around 10 y.o., we built downhill racers also. Scrap wood, some hardware, scrounged wheels and a piece of rope, good to go. I even managed to put 15” car wheels/tires on the back of mine. What a rake! We would even tow them with our bikes to different neighborhood’s hilly   streets and race the locals there.
