One other cool thing I remember about working on the Shammyshine car....We used to kepp the car on a farm right next door to Alexandria airport. We actually shared a barn with the 87 Dutchess Overhead Door car that was driven by Richie Burgess at that time.

I remember on Saturdays we would be loading up for Flemington and he would be loading up headed for Middletown. I remember Dan Madsen the owner of Dutchess Overhead flying in and parking his plane only a couple hundred yards away from the shop and walking over to keep an eye on things. I thought it was cool being in a shop with 2 different teams and the owner of the 87 flying in his own plane.

The week after the flip Steve Newman (aka team249) was the full time paid mechanic and worked on the car non stop to get it put back together. Jr. Actually found him asleep laying on the creeper under the car one morning. Steve is still working for Shammyshine managing all the car washes!
