Went to New Egypt.  Watched the trucks via DVR.  Like my main man "Don", I caught about the last 50 laps of the cup race.

New Egypt LIKES: As was the opener, a nice (just about) dust free surface.  Getting into the track was better than at the opener as NES had the back ticket booth (in the parking lot) open.  The various divisions all had decent numbers and ran fairly enteraining heats.  The sprint feature was pretty good although it ended with heartbreak as the apparent winner (he had a good size lead)had motor trouble with, I think, 2 or 3 to go.  The modified feature was also enteraining but also had a heartbreak moment as race leader D J Hunt had troubles, again with 2 or 3 to go.  The scary moment of night was a heat race crash invloving Ryan Godown and Justin Grosso.  Apparently Godown initially wasn't moving around in his torn up hot rod for a minute or so (or thats what it seemed like).  Give him a lot of credit as you would never had known he was involved in a nasty wreck earlier.  He started last (24th) in the feature and finished a fast closing 3rd in the feature.  Also for me, I had the pleasure of meeting Buffy Swanson.  She is the author of, in my opinion, a great book on Billy Pauch Sr.

DISLIKES:  I think NES could get their heat races out a little quicker.

SUMMARY:  Overall, NES put on a show that was worth the admission.  It was nice to see the Grossos rewarded with a very good size crowd.  Scott Ely
