2016 was worse than 2021, because this year they only put 6-8 inches of clay down, so the holes to pavement were only 6-8 inches deep. In 2016 there was a foot plus, so now you had craters. 2017, 2018, and 2019 were actually excellent surfaces. The excessive rain that upstate has had, may being the leading factor why it was so bad in 2021.

They work their asses off making for the best surface, "they" not being Super Dirt, but outside "specialist" Jeremy Corcoran. They do their best and I feel bad because they get the blame, but you can't make chicken salad....

It's sad, we went there with a brand new race car and in one 200 lap feature, not crashing or banging or bumping, the car was pretty bad, looked 25 races old

Brand new screen getting hit by track debris. The body is beat and looks crashed, just from all the stress. Many drivers refused to race. There were a dozen cars that dropped out voluntarily by the first and second laps. Many more talked about exiting also. Some crews only brought coolers to the infield instead of tires and tools.

Turn one, yes that's pavement.
