Went there in 1983 for the first time. Eye opening after attending races in NJ during my youth where the state looked out for safety.

These drivers were not wearing gloves. They had on a single ply fire 'proof' jacket for protection and wore jeans. Could not believe what I was seeing as I began venturing to these southern tracks.
