Seems to me the cost of motors is the single biggest cost factor in the sport.  I can remember Chamberlain, or Ploski, running the Big Donkey at Windsor with a 500+ cu. in. OHV Ford, which I heard was not a super high priced motor.   The Chevies would be purring pretty hard by the end of the straights, but not the Donkey.  Gerry or Stan would throw her high aand hard in the turns trying to keep her wound up! Usually worked.  I believe Stan holds the record for consecutive Windsor wins at 10, in the Donkey! My point is cheaper, less powerful motors would also be easierr on tires, as well as the drive chain.  Just my opinion.  Scott Ely
