I've heard Cup Series team owners expect to new car to pay for itself in 3-4 years. I forget who it was but somebody backed a Next Gen car hard into the fence and it was back on the track the next day. Someone on the telecast said with the old car that wrecked car would be unavailable for a couple months before they had time to put a new rear clip on it. Austin Dillon also wrecked hard at Charlotte in preseason testing. They hauled the mess back to RCR and it too was back on the track the next day. The days of needing 20-25 car fleets was unsustainable. Especially when the car you raced in the spring was often needing massive upgrades by the time they ran the fall race at the same track. It had gotten to be like the good old bad old days of CART where last years model was worthless junk even if it never got a scratch all season long. How many of us have heard to avoid buyin the first model year of any new car so they can work all the bugs out? They're working all the bugs out in real time. I dislike so much about NASCAR these days, but I got no problem with this new car.
