I was kidding with Joe last Tuesday and said Wall was rained out. He laughed, it came true, minus the rain.

When I promoted New Egypt in 1991, we relied on Maguire Air Force base as our weather. We were fortunate to be so close to an Air Force base with the "official" weather. It was about 40% accurate. Compared to today, what a difference. Back then, your Tex Antoine type weathermen says "30% showers" meant 70% of your crowd did not come.  It's an outdoor, expensive sport. It's the most expensive outdoor sport that relies on a forecast. Baseball, football, soccer, golf all can pay in the rain. Racing, as we do it, can't.

It costs a race track, rough number, $10-15,000 to open the gates. If a car hits the track, insurance is not transferable. Most food keeps, if the track owns the food, some gets thrown out. Advertising is a complete loss, and back then, the whores at the Asbury Park Press could care less.  Today, a track website and an email database is so much cheaper.

Leave some thoughts for others.
