Original Message

Sad new has reached us on the passing of long-time racing journalist Ken Kuhlman

Ken covered auto racing for over 50 years for various trade journals. In addition, he has handled the press relations duties at various times through the years for race tracks at Flemington, East Windsor, New Egypt, Bridgeport, Reading, Nazareth, and Syracuse, N.Y.

Ken was also one of the original volunteers that got involved in the early days of creating the link between the short track auto racing community and the Matheny School.

I remember back in the early/mid 70's, getting off of the school bus and running to the mailbox to get my Area Auto Racing News... and turning directly to Ken's "dirt trackin" column as Ken always had a way of featuring the drivers that I enjoyed reading about the most.  It is a tradition that I kept up for just shy of 50 years as Ken continued to feature stories in recent years in AARN, again, focusing on drivers and their careers that seemed to represent my favorite years.

We will miss Ken's writing and passion that he always had for the sport, but will have some comfort in knowing that the words contained in those articles will continue to bring enjoyment each time we open an AARN from back in the day, once again, turning to Ken's column to read the about our favorite drivers.

We send our condolences to the friends and Family of Ken Kuhlman at this very sad time.
