Thing is though, Alonzo Morales took the gamblers challenge. He elected to start in the back.

This was a good move on his part. Because only 11 cars started the race. So you figure that 5 of the cars will suck and be lapped in no time. Then another 3 will wreck. Since Alonzo was 3rd in points it made sense to take the gamble.

He won the race! And what a dog fight it was.

So good for him. He collected the bonus plus the win money.

Too bad none of the other division drivers took the gamble. They only need to come in 3rd or better to win extra cash.
