I forgot about that part of it John... Probably no PA either where we parked inside turn 1.

I was probably 9 or 10 at the time at the time this picture was taken, so might not of been paying that much attention, but I do remember I thought the cars were really cool and it was also pretty cool to go up to where the snack bar was which if I remember correctly, was up near the pits with the drivers and crews separated by a fence from us infield "general admission" spectators.  I remember kids running their minibikes on the infield dragstrip too, all part of the infield experience.

I also remember one year it rained at the end of the event, and a lot of the spectators cars in the infield got stuck in the grass/mud, and folks were helping to push by hand to help folks get on their way.  Not sure if the rain happened at an Indycar event or a modified event.
