I've also heard it mentioned that the old football grandstands were used for the raceway but it's not true. There is a site called historicaerials.com that allows you to compare and overlay satellite photos from different years, as far back as early 1930's. You can see that the grandstands didn't exist when the track was there, and if it did it would have been in the infield.
