Im not sure but I think Kenny weld had something to do with starting it...Does anyone remember the OPEN show at Bridgeport when he almost got lapped by Chamberlain as he was packing the outside groove down by himself...Gerry had him in sight when Weld took off and passed every car at least once then he sold a few cars after that display...Big Alum Big Block and drag rubber...was quite a show..
