Went to the Bridgeport SDS show Sun. night.

DISLIKES: Track was very dusty with a troublesome rut between turns 3 and 4.  The speedster field totaled 8 cars, of which 2 did not start the feature.  The speedster feature was pretty much a "spread out and follow the leader" race.  Was looking forward to watching Pauch SR race the R7 speedster.  He ran 2 or 3 laps in the heat and pulled off with his night done. The modified heats were so-so entertainment wise.  As much as I'm not a Godown fan, I wish he ran as he is entertaining to watch.

LIKES:  The modified field, mostly New Yorkers, was stout.  The 2 modified consis were good races.  Pauch JR looked way off handling wise in his heat but looked alot better in the consi he won.  Given the race was 75 laps, I thought the field would get strung out and "just ride to click off laps" like Nascar.  Couldn't be any further from the truth as every driver was driving hard to get that next position.  At the checkers, the top 3 were almost nose to tail at the finish.  Was happy that local drivers took home 2nd and 3rd.

SUMMARY: You would think that, overall, I didn't like the show.  Actually, I'll go again to a Bridgeport show as the talent level does get ramped up in these specials.  After Matt Sheppard showed that his is human after all (started on the pole in the feature, suffered a flat about 5 laps into the feature), the race seemed to get better.  Guess everyone thought they had a chance after Super Matt's misfortunes.  Scott Ely
