Was watching a Youtube about local dirt racing a couple of days ago.  The show was about Cup drivers who do other forms of racing.  He mentioned the Briscoe and Bowman injuries and how their injuries affect their Cup career.  The host mentioned some interesting points.  He said that, the Hendrick team seems to incourage the outside racing activity as its giving additional exposure to their cup drivers and their sponsors.  He added that, with the cup current rules, you can sit out some cup races and still have a shot at the championship (provided you have a win).  Prior to the playoff system, an injury that would prohibit a driver from driving would almost certainly kill their title chances. He referred to Kyle Busch's 2015 injury that lead to him missing multiple races and then winning the championship.  Personally, I'm not a fan of the playoff system.  During the show, it was also mentioned that Joe Gibbs Racing has infroimed Christopher Bell that he can no longer drive open wheel cars.  I found the show entertaining and informative.  Whether the host's comments were based on fact, rumor, or his opinion, I do not know.  Scott Ely
