Original Message Thanks to John Springsteels Dad, Steve, (who built my first few body's) and taught me how to build a body. The body deal is a tough one. I can build a complete, pre painted aluminum body, ready for lettering for my asphalt car in about 12 hours. Including dzus' and rivets, it's about $600, and that's because the price of aluminum is up. It takes 12 hours to just cut a body off a stock, steel car. Now add the modifying, the body work, the paint and every other detail needed at about 60 hours, plus bondo and paint materials at $600. I'm not sure anyone owning a weekly, competitive race car will be doing that anytime soon. And John, "Race on Sunday, don't watch next Sunday" is pretty funny! |
