Can't forget that night. We wanted to lighten the car, the fuel tank was the last component of aluminum to go.Fuel tank was built by Larry Kuhn, well known welder in our area and friend. Tank was constructed with baffles and internal supports, tank held 45 gallons of fuel. forget the thickness of the aluminum, but it wasn't thin. Loss of fuel was due to verticle crack right along side the weld on the right side. On the last lap, Car was sputtering coming down the back stretch, Fitzcharles went around on third turn, engine picked some fuel in 4th turn, chased Glen to the checker. 

After the race we went to Jim's diner on 130, looking for a booth, Terry Ebersol gets up and said, since you gave us the race, you can have our table. Everyone laughed shook hands
