The first one that came to mind, and I don't think he gets enough credit is Kenny Brightbill.
He ran a wide number of car styles all the way to NASCAR.

The same could be said about:
Hearn, Buzzy, Kevin Collins, and a few others.

I kind of think that if you ran dirt (local and regional) asphalt, modifies, sprints, pancake modifies, and did some 'big pavement' racing then you qualify.
