This race rained out, actual opener was 4/29/72. I remember being with my dad at Matt McMann's garage in Pt Pleasant finishing the new #4 sedan and it snowed that night. Probably fortunate for them because it was pretty much a thrash to get the car finished for the opener, but when isn't that the case?

John Mc is correct, since I was a card carrying "Stan Ploski Fan Club" member, I was looking through my fan club letters and it had the 29th as the opener date along with Ploski winning his heat and the Feature.

Looking at that newspaper ad, and thinking about the time it was written/published, it's amazing what was about to unfold for those of us who were probably only 10 or 12 at the time and really just starting to get locked in on what Flemington Speedway would always mean... for the rest of our lives.

I was eleven.
