Ryan Godown flipped at Grandview this past weekend while Anthony Macri flipped while leading at Williams Grove.  Godown was ok but Macri suffered 2 compression fractures.  Macri will be sidelined for awhile.  Watched both races on Youtube.  Grandview had 58 modifieds! They ran 6 heats and 3 consis! Scott Ely

Scott: Thanks for telling us Godown flipped. Next time, put a spoiler warning in place! Half those cars were outsiders. Since it was a special race, only race in the area.

One Friday night in the 80's EWS had 66 Small Block Modifieds show up. Don't recall if Big Diamond was rained out or the owners were protesting the BDR promoter over their purse but about 25 of them were Big Diamond regulars. Jones only ran 3 heats with 22 cars in each one due to the strict 11 PM curfew. I discussed this with Don after the show, I said that if you could draw that many on Friday, he could run a Modified only show on Friday and race the Sportsman and Street Stocks separately on Sunday's. I forgot what his answer was but I recall it made sense as Don was a very astute businessman.

I've only been to Grandview once, 6-8 years ago. That steep road you drive up was unbelievable, I'm in a Cummins powered Dodge with a small trailer and it was a struggle. How do those overloaded 1/2 ton pickups pulling street stocks make it up?  And there were a lot of younger people, which was a pleasant surprise, both in the stands and in the pits. The crowd was good as was the racing. Hope the chance for me to return comes along, neat place.

I was there Saturday with most of the usual suspects. Where were the other 3-Widers? Got cold with a biting wind but they moved the show along and great racing. The Hill looks like the place to be on Saturday nights.

I must have been living in a cave as I didn't know Grandview ran their first race until I watched it on youtube.  I'll be sure to text you when I'm planning to go to Grandview.  Scott Ely

Don’t go weekly but try to get to bigger modified shows. Text me if you’re going. Regards.
