He and Fred DeGroot were car owners first from the early '60's to the end of '67 with Ed Farley as their driver. Dad started driving the 301 in 1968, moved to the modifieds with his sportsman in the middle of '69 and started driving for the McManns at the end of '70. He drove the 4 on and off until '75 (a couple races in '76 until Matt retired), built a new 301 in '73 and ran his own car until '84 with a few other rides sprinkled in (76,80,16, a couple other 1 offs).
