My wife and I were there that year on a delayed honeymoon. We went to Valle's Steakhouse on Friday night before the 500 and damned if we didn't run into Richard Petty and family out for a quiet dinner. After seeing a few other people approach him for autographs, my starstruck wife decided to do the same. As always, Richard was very accomodating.
