Did you guys watch anything this past weekend?  (No Indycar, no NHRA, and I don't have Flo, so I watched Camping World Trucks, XFinity and Cup.)

Enjoyed all 3 races with the help of the DVR.

In the trucks, good to see Stew get a good finish (He was listed as 3rd with the DQ of Zane Smith's #38 after the race.)  Todd Bodine in the 2nd Halmar fielded truck had a rough go of it.  Great late restart by winner Chandler Smith.  Great to see him beat Kyle Busch, even though Smith was in a KBM truck too.

Thought both the XFinity and the cup races were decided on questionable final restarts of each race as it didn't look to me like the car that was in the #1 position (Gragson in XFinity & Larson in Cup) actually took off first.  Not sure if they ran out of "Geigo Restart Zone" real estate, or the leader got jumped, but not a word was spoken about it by the announcers in the booth.

Speaking of announcers, I found Danica to add absolutely nothing to the cup broadcast.  Felt like Clint Boyer was trying to deal her in at different times, but it just fell flat.  Then it got to where no matter what she said, Clint would say, "That's a great point Danica...." and then he'd elaborate on the subject to try to carry the moment.

Last point:  I don't know when Nascar "officially" threw the caution when Eric Jones was wrecking with only a handful of laps near the end of the cup race, but watching the little green/yellow indicator that appears on screen above the running order, it looked like the caution light was put on very late (about 10 seconds after Jones hit the wall - hard.)  His right front wasn't even turning.  (From watching the past few weeks, it's pretty clear that these cars can't steer when they have two flats because the bottom of the car now becomes a big skid plate, never mind having a RF pushed back 2 feet farther than it should be and not turning.) It was pretty obvious (my opinion) that he was having a lot of difficulty in maintaining control of the car after the initial impact....  The car hit the outside wall... richocheted toward to the inside of the track... stayed along the apron/scrubbing through the edge of the infield grass for a while, and then spun back up the track the track with the driver's side facing on coming traffic.  From the time he hit the wall initially, it was about 18 seconds before Bubba Wallace reached the #43, and then had to turn hard left to avoid a direct shot into the driver's side door of the #43, at probably around 150+ mph...

Great job by Bubba avoiding contact with the #43, but my question is, why was it so close to begin with?  Why were cars still approaching (in this case two wide) at speed?

Was the yellow thrown when it should have been?  Jones hit the wall on the exit of turn 4, before then sliding down the frontstretch.  Bubba was proabably still on the backstretch, or maybe just starting to enter  turn 3 when Jones first made contact with the wall way ahead of him, coming out of turn 4.

Today's story lines are about how Bubba avoided contact, which I applaud him as well for the last second maneuver, but maybe there should also be a few stories out there about why this very dangerous, avoidable situation occurred to begin with, and ask did Nascar delay throwing the caution, and if so, why?

I'm not a racer and have never been, so it would be fair for those who disagree with me to point that I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to a situation like this, but as someone who has watched a lot of races, and have witnessed a lot of dangerous situations.... some avoidable and some not, if Nascar threw the yellow earlier (check out the impact of Jones with the outside wall) it would have given the drivers/spotters more time to react slow up/or chose to slow up, and the situation would never have risen to the dangerous. almost tragic level that it did.
