Kevin, the 500 is THE event for me every year. This year it was quite interesting to watch the various strategies in play from the very start of the race. Race stats will reflect numerous lead changes when in fact teammates Didon and Palou exchanged running at the front quite a bit. Would have been interesting if they hadn't experienced pit-related issues and had been upfront at the end. Kanaan, O'Ward and Ericsson were in play all day. Carpenter, Daly and Rosenqvist appeared to be in the mix at times. McLaughlin was the only factor for Team Penske before crashing. Rossi drove an incident-free race to finish 5th, rest of Andretti Autosport were non-factors.  Red flagging the race to create a green flag finish (which didn't happen with Sage's crash on final lap) . . . . I guess I'm a traditionalist, it's 500 miles, obviously disappointing for fans (including me) if caution comes out so close to finish yet I feel it could possibly rob the deserving driver of the win. What if Ericsson's car could not refire for restart? Power units, electronics on these engines can be fickle, recall that Will Power lost race at Detroit last year (ironically to Ericsson) when his leading car wouldn't refire following a red flag to create a green flag finish. Re the Rookie of the Year award to Johnson . . . in my opinion should have been David Malukas. Thankfully a safe race injury-wise. Herta proved car's integrity safety-wise on Carb Day.
