I was in that rookie feature with Joe (1981). A moment I'll never forget. When they threw the red. I was stopped about 50 yards from his car and seen the helmet rolling down the track. All I could do was pray it was only his helmet. When I saw him climb from the car. I thanked God he survived to race another day.
