I've been to the big track several times. I last went in 2020 as I wanted to see what it looked like after their recent $400M upgrade.
They tried too hard. The exterior looks like modern art that will look out of date by 2030. The common areas where you buy refreshments and whatever are polished to the point where it doesn't feel like you're at a race track. Felt like I was at a modern NFL or NHL stadium. The land around the track also doesn't feel like you're at a race track. Lots of your typical restaurants and retail chains. Nothing special. My wife hasn't seen the new look Daytona so I suppose we'll get there eventually, but I prefer Talladega.
